Buyer guide
For developers, HOA boards, property managers, facilities and public agencies. What documentation an approval needs, how to specify for traffic, how to handle colour across phases, and where the supply scope ends.
Developers phasing turf across lots and amenity areas, HOA boards approving a common-area replacement, property managers running multi-site portfolios, and facilities or public agencies buying through a procurement process. The common thread is that the decision is documented and approved by someone who will not visit the yard.
Three documents cover most approval processes.
Before you commit to a submittalNo flammability certificate and no third-party test report is published. If a specifier or agency requires one, confirm with the trade desk before you commit to supplying it.
Commercial sites are judged over years. Face weight is the number that resists matting under steady public foot traffic.
| Line | Pile · face weight | Where it is specified |
|---|---|---|
| Imperial 100 | 1.77 in · 75 oz/sq yd | Courtyards, plazas and frontage under steady traffic; slopes and shaded elevations. |
| Superior Natural 80 | 1.89 in · 83 oz/sq yd | The densest landscape face weight in the line after Princess 115, where appearance is held over years. |
| Majestic 110 | 1.77 in · 70 oz/sq yd | A 12,600 dtex face yarn, the heaviest single filament in the landscape range. |
| Champion Sport | 1.1 in · 77 oz/sq yd | Recreation and amenity surfaces where wear is highest. Shock pad and base by others. |
| Elite Pet 80 | 1.25 in · 60 oz/sq yd | Shared pet zones. Commercial pet facility coverage is unconfirmed: call before specifying. |
This is the issue that causes the most trouble on multi-phase work. Colour may vary slightly between dye lots, samples and photographs, and dye-lot variation is specifically excluded from the warranty. Where a project runs across phases or sites, order the material together where possible, and confirm colour and roll availability with the trade desk before each phase ships.
Superior Turf Direct supplies materials and does not install, and is not licensed as a contractor. Base preparation, compaction, drainage design, seaming, fastening, infill installation and any shock pad are the responsibility of the installing contractor, and installation workmanship is excluded from the warranty. Setting that boundary in the contract documents early avoids the most common dispute on a commercial turf project.
